I lost track of how many parents came to me and said how valuable it was attending David Benzel's seminar... They told me they are now "new parents with a new perspective on their kids' sports". Many of the stories began with "Before I went to that class I would have said this to my daughter (after they literally lost every game on Saturday...) but now we said this and said that and kept it positive. NO DOUBT that this whole positive atmosphere from our families had our girls BELIEVING in themselves and their a bilities.

Thanks David. Wow! This webinar really hit home...

My son had a basketball game yesterday. Instead of discussing certain points of the game, I tried your strategy of asking him to evaluate his performance . It was amazing how he rated himself and why he gave himself a 9. He gave me several valid reasons why he picked a 9 and I had to agree with him! This is what he said... He scored his second highest points per game. He made two really nice assists under the basket. He played point guard which is not his usual position and did pretty good at it. I then asked him what would have given his performance a 10. He proceeded to tell me that it was his defense that could have been better. If he had done better on defense he would have given himself a 10.

David, thank you for this simple strategy. During the game I could see he was slacking in defense. He wasn't aggressive and several times the guy he was guarding drove past him to the basket. Not only that, he was slow reacting in the full court press. I kept quiet and used your strategy later.

After asking him to evaluate himself and hearing his reasoning, it became clear to me that the one area that I wanted to complain about was only a small portion of the entire game! Your strategy helped me focus on the positives of the game and not the one area he was lacking in. It also became clear that he already knew that he slacked on defense. I didn't need to tell him!

David, thanks for sending this to me. It was the first time in a while that we had a good conversation about a game. I am definitely going to use this simple strategy every time.

We, as a staff, heard Mr. Benzel speak last month, and let me say, I thought he was fantastic. I wasn't too excited to hear "another" speaker talk to me about the "same" motivational techniques that I have heard time and time again.... I was wrong, because HE WAS DIFFERENT!

Being a parent of two myself, I ended up listening as a mom (as much as a coach) and I was amazed at how accurate he was on my parenting, as well as my coaching. I was using phases and words that were actually hindering my authority and not helping it. He taught me better use of words and new language to get across to my children (and gymnasts) where I would gain more respect and see long term changes.

I was not put up to this email, I just really enjoyed listening to his lecture and I think you all will too. I am confident that each of you will leave feeling a bit different than when you came in!

David, Thank you for taking the time to come to Jacksonville, Florida this past weekend to speak to the coaches of First Coast Soccer. I thoroughly enjoyed the seminar and was inspired from your talk. I have already ordered 25 of the 5 Powerful Strategies for Sport-Parent Success books and will distribute to my U12 boys and U12 girls teams. Very impactful information that I am looking forward to sharing with my player's parents.
